If you’re creating video for public distribution you need to consider how Google can find your programs on the web. Yes, you may have a fan base built on youtube.com or vimeo.com but there’s a much larger market searching Google and other search engines right now.
Wouldn’t it be great if the perfect audience could find and watch your programs? Here’s an important step in making that a reality.
First, though, it’s important to note that this applies only if you’re publishing your videos on your own web site. If everything you publish online is only available on youtube.com then you don’t have enough control to make this work.
But, even if all you have is a free WordPress or Blogger site you can learn how to increase the traffic on your videos from Google and other search engines with a few changes in how you publish in your blog.
Watch and listen to this audio slidecast on how to optimize image thumbnails for your video content, as they appear in Google’s blended search results. This is my presentation from the “Images and Optimization” panel SES Chicago back in December. Here you’ll see how we at ReelSEO have been successful with getting quality image thumbnails of our own video content in Google’s blended search results, and tips for how you can do this yourself.
Good stuff, well worth learning.
